About

Me and my puppy

Crohnically is a blog about and for people with Crohn's disease. There are numerous websites, blogs and forums about Crohn's so why start another one? Well.. first of all I just feel like I have to write my story down or make sense of all thats happening in my life by putting it in writing. Secondly I just couldn't find a good website for people with Crohn's disease with fistula('s) and abscesses. Also I missed stories about what really goes on when your in the hospital or what it means when you have open wounds, and what does it look like? And last but not least I believe that sharing my story and all the information I have gathered during my illness will maybe help or inspire someone with questions about a Crohnic topic.

I am a 32 year old girl from The Netherlands. In okt '11 I ended up at the emergency room of the hospital with an abscess in my butt, a week later another one occured. My surgeon started to suspect a high fistula maybe caused by Crohn's disease. In dec '11 I had a colonoscopy and there they saw an inflammation. That and the other symptoms that I have had was diagnosed as Crohn's disease. Bam, all of a sudden I was Crohnically.

Now, its almost a year after the first abscess and well I have been in and out of the hospital like every 2 months. I have a rare type of Crohn's because of the severity of the fistula. Because I have not been able to go to work for a long time and the sofa and my bed have become my new best friends, I can call myself kind of an expert on everything there is to know about Crohn's. Especially Crohn's with fistula's and abscesses. I've always had an interest in medicine, but never ever exptected that this would become my new hobby;)

I hope my blog will be helpfull and inspiring, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask:)

Crohn's will never entirely go away untill a cure is found, but by sharing and caring we can make it a little bit better.

xoxo Barbara
